BJ Smith, President

BJ is an Interactive Developer for Evolve Inc, a marketing and PR firm in Greenville. He also served as an Instructor at Pitt Community College. BJ joined the Jaycees in 2002 and has held the positions of director, Shuck 'n Pluck Chairperson, and NC Jaycees Webmaster. Since joining the Jaycees he has received the Presidential Award of Honor by 68th State President Shannon Foster, Team Player Award by by 70th State President Joanie Cramer, the Faith-In-God Award, named All-Star Director, and been a member of two state champion debate teams.

BJ is an East Carolina University BSBA graduate with a concentration in marketing. He resides in Winterville with his wife and fellow Jaycee, Karen, their two year old son Jordan and baby daughter Elise.

   Tasha Laughbaum, Vice President

Tasha Laughbaum is an office assistant at Hearthside Rentals in Greenville. Tasha joined the Jaycees in 2007 after relocating to Greenville from her home state Ohio. The first event Tasha co-chaired was the Christmas Parade and she has participated in other Jaycees events. Tasha graduated from Ohio University in 2006 with a double major in History and Anthropology. She loves the Jaycee's because of how they get involved with the community and the social aspect of the group. Tasha enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, reading, and genealogy.

   Derek Abbott, Vice President

Derek moved to Greenville from Buffalo, NY about three years ago to be with his wife Jennifer, who was attending Graduate school at ECU. When Derek arrived in Greenville he took a job at the Brody School of Medicine in the Microbiology department as a Lab Manager. Currently he is pursuing an MBA from ECU and in the future hopes to have an upper-management job within the Biotechnology field. Derek's hobbies include golf, fishing and listening to music. Derek also enjoys playing soccer, rugby and softball.

   Randy Cox, Presidential Advisor

Randy Cox is a property manager with Hearthside Rentals in Greenville and a Realtor with Coldwell Banker of Greenville. Randy joined the Jaycees in 2000 and has held the positions of President, Chairman of the Board, Treasurer and Director. Randy has chaired numerous projects including the Shuck & Pluck, Beer Sales Fundraiser, and the July 4th Fireworks Celebration. Randy graduated from the 2005, 2006 & 2007 NCAA Div 1-AA National Football Champion Appalachian State University. In 2007 Randy was recognized as the top local president in North Carolina after leading the Greenville Jaycees to 1st place finishes in the Parade of Excellence for all three trimesters in 2006.
