Flat Out 5K & Fun Run

Every July, the Greenville Jaycees organize a fun, family event in the Uptown Greenville area. A certified 5K is held along with a one mile family fun run. Runners from all over North Carolina have made this race a part of their annual July 4 plans; the race is typically held the day before, on, or the day after July 4th.

Funds raised from this race are typically donated to the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center as well as other local charities. In 2008, in addition to the NC Jaycee Burn Center donation, funds were given to the Leo Jenkins Cancer Center, and the Family Violence Network.

Numerous Jaycees from both Greenville and other chapters around the state volunteer to organize the event both in pre-planning and on the day of the event. In addition, local community members, including Target employees and Council on Aging members have volunteered their time towards this worthwhile event. Over 150 runners have joined the Greenville Jaycees for the past few years and the event is growing! For the first time, the Flatout Bread Company provided a major donation in 2008. We thank them for their generosity.
