4th of July Celebration
For over 30 years, the young adults of the Greenville Jaycees have been the major organizers for the city of Greenville fireworks display and July 4th events. Assisted by numerous departments within the City of Greenville, each July, the members of the Greenville Jaycees are able to provide a state-of-the-art fireworks display as well as a day-long program of food, music, and fun for the Greenville community.
Costing in excess of $15,000 the Jaycees plan all major aspects of the celebration including obtaining the fireworks, permits, insurance, food vendors, entertainment, and games/activities. This includes raising all funds from sponsors and a generous donation from the Pepsi-Minges Bottling company. Each year, the philanthropic Pepsi company makes a cash donation to help fund the fireworks as well as donates a truck load of Pepsi products. The Jaycees are then able to sell the cans of soda and water for $1.00 to raise additional funds to pay for the day's events.
Hastings Ford was the 2008 sponsor of the fireworks display. Without this generosity as well as the numerous donations from other sponsors, the Jaycees could not provide this wonderful event to the citizens of Eastern North Carolina each summer. For more information contact the July 4th Celebration Chairperson.
